Skypiea, an adventure for pirates
Pirates sometimes use a map that leads them on an adventure to or through an unknown island where they might find hidden treasures to obtain. That description alone makes Skypiea, the most accurate pirate adventure for the Straw hats.
The Straw Hats accidentally found a map of a sky island called Skypiea after almost getting killed by a falling ship from said sky island, thus was the start of a great adventure in the series.
What they thought was gonna be traveling to and waltzing through an island in the sky turned into a collection of new discoveries they never even imagined. On Skypiea, there were two different indigenous races the Skypieans and the Shandians who were fighting for a literal piece of the Earth, called “Upper yard” that came from the blue sea. The straw hats got caught in the crossfire of a 500 years ongoing war. The map of Skypiea found by Luffy and his crew was featuring “Upper Yard” where lies an ancient Golden City lost to the blue sea (yes, an El Dorado). Once they discover the existence of lost gold on the island, as pirates exploring a new island the Straw hats had to obtain that treasure. Thus began the mission for retrieval of the gold. The Mugiwaras all had to fight their way through a war that had nothing to do with them in order to survive, achieve their mission, finish their adventure and go back down to the blue sea.
At the end of the adventure, the straw Hats “obtained” a lot of gold and other unique items (dials) only found in Skypiea and also discovered in the history of the place. Many discoveries were made during the Skypiea arc, like the various dials, the different races, the power of “Mantra”, the existence of the Golden City and how it went from the blue sea to the sky… and the writing proof that the former Pirate King Gol D. Roger and his crew once came to Skypiea. We also witness for the first time the terrifying and destructive power a logia user could have, as displayed by Eneru.
Skypiea is somehow one of the most unrated arcs by One Piece fans and yet it is one the best in terms of adventure on a completely unimaginable island located in the sky. If you somehow watch One Piece and skipped the Skypiea arc, you should definitely go back and enjoy the awesome adventure! If not, you can still rewatch the Skypiea saga for pleasure!
